Bus passengers wanting to get to Wivenhoe from Brightlingsea or Colchester face a convoluted journey until the middle of November.

Services from Brightlingsea are bypassing Wivenhoe and part of Alresford because of a road closure on Rectory Hill, just outside Wivenhoe. The Cadent works there aren’t scheduled to finish on November 14.

As a result, the 87 service heading to Colchester will turn right on to Station Road, Alresford, and proceed direct to Colchester via Essex University, reversing the route on the return to Brightlingsea.

Until the road re-opens, the only way to get to Wivenhoe station or Co-op by bus is to catch the 51 service from Colchester city centre or from one of the university stops.
