Funding to help stroke survivors in Brightlingsea has been boosted over the summer by a variety of fundraising events and grants.
The money will go to the Brightlingsea Stroke Support Services (BSSS) charity, which runs a weekly meeting at the Regent Football Club offering therapies and practical help to local folk affected by strokes.
The largest donation of £10,000 has come from the Nationwide Building Society, courtesy of an colleague grant secured by BSSS supporter and society employee Charley White.
A further £2,240.99 was raised over the summer by a series of fundraisers in the Station Road Co-op store, including a sponsored shave, tombola and raffle. A sponsored on-shore rowing event saw a cheque for £1,412 presented by Brightlingsea Coastal Rowing Club, while the town’s Crab and Winkle Country Music Club donated £500.
