Wintertime blues were well and truly banished by Brightlingsea WinterFest’s successful second week of events.

Week two of WinterFest began with a well-attended singalong at Brightlingsea Library. The feelgood factor continued at an art exhibition at Brightlingsea Museum, a Wellbeing Day and a Soul to Sinatra music event at Brightlingsea Community Centre, and a mental health workshop in the Parish Hall.

WinterFest co-founder Alix Sheppard said: “There is an incredible buzz around town for this year’s WinterFest, with so many people enjoying such a wide variety of events. Our art exhibition has been an incredible success and the Wellbeing Day was simply awesome too. Together these two events attracted more than 1,450 people.”

Week three of WinterFest includes a Motley Crew shanty concert, a Valentine’s Day swing dance, a music by candelight concert, a live play and an Abba singalong, a comedy night, a weekend of creative arts and crafts workshops, and a Bake Off competition.

Most of the festival’s events are free and money raised through donations and a raffle goes to the WinterFest Wellbeing Fund which helps improve the mental, physical and social wellbeing of people in Brightlingsea. A substantial donation is also given to the mental health charity, Mid and North East Essex Mind.
