“Poor weather” delays Brightlingsea paddling pool improvements

Residents and visitors to Brightlingsea will have to wait until the end of the summer for improvements to the town’s paddling pool area.

Tendring District Council said work to form new concrete bays around the pool would begin in February and take around four weeks – but now the project has been put off until September.

Brightlingsea Town Council (BTC) has been told that “poor weather and February’s sustained low temperatures” had caused the delay.

“Given the significant disruption involved and constraints around high tides, works will now be deferred until September, when conditions should allow completion before winter,” said a BTC statement.

The work should see new concrete bays laid over the existing defects on the walkways around the pool, with the installation of a new, slightly sloping, section of concrete abutting the sea wall with the intention of preventing sand build-up and the pooling of water.

• The toilet block next to the Promenade Way car park has been re-opened following repairs. The block was hit by a car late last year.
