Can you fill a pencil case to help schoolchildren in Ghana?
Brightlingsea-based charity Porridge & Pens is looking to take 500 pencil cases so that pupils at the Brightlingsea Academy it supports in Ghana have equipment to help their studies.
Three of the charity’s trustees are setting off for the academy in eight weeks, hopefully with suitcases filled with pencil cases. The aim is to ensure that every pupil at the school – which provides education for 350 children aged up to 14 – has their own case.
The cases have been made by trustees and can be bought for £1 from Little Boat Gifts in New Street. The following items can be included:
- Pencils
- Coloured pencils
- Pens
- Rubbers
- Rulers
- Protractors
- Small packets of sweets
