Extra recycling bins are starting to be delivered across the Tendring district in readiness for the start of kerbside glass collections.

From October residents will get collections of glass and an expanded range of plastics and cartons collected from their homes for recycling on their current green collection week.

The additional colletion comes after a new contract was negotiated between Tendring District Council (TDC) and waste contractors Veolia, partly to comply with new legislation.

Adrian Smith, TDC’s cabinet member for environment, said: “This is an exciting change to our recycling offer, meaning people can recycle glass directly from their home – making it much easier for residents.”
