Brightlingea filling station - new owner on the way, reports suggest

Brightlingsea’s only filling station is understood to have been sold, subject to contracts being signed with an undisclosed buyer.

According to a report in petrol retail trade title, Forecourt Trader, the Samsons Road site is one of five East of England Co-op stations that have been on the market since February.

East of England Co-op CEO Andy Rigby is quoted as stating that the stations are “under consideration to be sold as going concerns,” with staff transferring to the new owner.

In 2024 the Co-op announced that it was leasing the former Fiveways store on the Samsons Road site to Sainsbury’s. The move was part of a cost-saving exercise.
