Thirty-five local gardens of all shapes and sizes will be open to the public over the weekend of June 21 & 22 between 10am and 5pm for the Brightlingsea Open Gardens event.

Organised by the Brightlingsea Hospice Support Group, which has been raising funds for St Helena Hospice for 35 years, and in 2024 it collected £23,000.

Group chair Pauline Skerritt said: “We have been raising money for St. Helena Hospice for over 35 years and this year funds are more vital than ever. The Open Gardens weekend is our biggest fund-raiser, so we hope everyone will support this popular and much-loved annual event.”

Entry is by programme, costing £5 per adult (under 16s go free) available from Spirals, Little Boat Gifts and Spar, or from the vaious gardens, which are marked by colourful windmills.  Many gardens have refreshments, plants and crafts for sale, and at Springmead Gardens light lunches, home-made cakes, tea/coffee and a licenced bar will be available from noon.
