An event that attracted nearly 300 cyclists in Tendring has been been hailed as “delightful” by Brightlingsea councillor Mick Barry.
Cllr Barry, Tendring District Council’s cabinet member for leisure and public realm, said the Tour de Tendring event was part of the council’s vision to promote cycling and other activities to help improve residents’ wellbeing, health and quality of life.
The Tour – the first since the pandemic – took place on Sunday, May 19 and saw cyclists complete a 60 or 20-mile route taking in countryside and coast starting and finishing at Dovercourt.
Cllr Barry, who took part in the 20-mile event, said: “It was delightful to see both keen and casual cyclists participate – with some taking on the challenge to fundraise for a charity close to their heart. I was also pleased to see so many families and friends cheering on those taking part.”
