Collections by Clacton-on-Sea Lions Club have resulted in Brightlingsea Foodbank receiving a £675 cheque from Clacton-on-Sea Lions Club.
The town’s foodbank was one of five in the district to benefit from the Lions’ fundraising efforts over the Christmas period.
Club President Liz Godden presented a cheque to Win Pomroy, coordinator of Brightlingsea Foodbank, who said: “We are thrilled by this extremely generous donation and want to thank the Lions members and all their supporters for collecting such a terrific amount. It really is very much appreciated indeed.
“We intend to use the money to help fund special vouchers for our foodbank clients to spend at the butchers and the greengrocers in Brightlingsea. These offer clients the chance to select a variety of fresh food items to enhance the grocery parcels we give to them. In addition to the extra food products they buy, these vouchers also crucially help maintain dignity of choice for people in crisis, struggling to cope.”
