An evening of shanties and sea songs performed by Brightlingsea’s Motley Crew raised £1,055 for the local branch of the RNLI.
Around 70 people attended the fish & chip supper evening, on October 20, in the YMCA. A raffle and auction of donated items helped to boost the money raised.
The weekend prior to the local event saw the 14-strong Motley Crew performing at the Harwich International Shanty Festival. In December the group will perform its first concert – in Lavenham – after signing with East Anglian promoter OEPLive.
