Report those responsible for “mindless vandalism” urges town council

Smashed – an information board on the old railway line

Brightlingsea Town Council has urged residents to report those responsible for a recent spate of  “mindless vandalism” around the town.

In the latest incident, an information board on the old railway line riverside walk was smashed.

If follows damage which forced the closure of the toilets on the Western Promenade for a time, the destruction of a hand-made sign on the Gravel Field (pictured below), and reports of flowers being trampled around the pond in Victoria Gardens.

“Brightlingsea is a town with a great sense of pride in its community and public areas. It’s such a shame that a small minority spoil things for everyone else by continued acts of mindless vandalism,” said a council statement.

“We would urge anyone with any information as to who may be responsible to let the police know by reporting online at essex.police.uk or calling 101. If you wish to remain anonymous you can contact Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
