Apprentice training at the Brightlingsea-based Pioneer Sailing Trust on the only course of its kind in the UK has been graded as meeting ‘Expected Standard’ by Ofsted.

Every part of the  Level 3 Heritage Engineer Technician (Marine) Apprenticeship met Ofsted’s requirements – including Inclusion; Curriculum, Teaching and Training; Achievement; Participation and Development; and Leadership and Governance –  while also meeting all safeguarding standards.

The trust is the only provider in the country offering a hands-on further education which gives apprentices practical, real-world experience of a working maritime environment, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to progress within specialist heritage marine engineering sector.

A spokesperson for Pioneer Sailing Trust said: “This reflects the dedication of our team and the enthusiasm of our apprentices. We are proud to offer the only course of its kind in the UK, providing hands-on training that supports both technical excellence and personal development.”
