Music festival roadworks fears averted

Robinson Road - the original closure could have been for up to 12 days

Roadworks that could have caused traffic chaos while the Brightllingsea Free Music Festival was taking place have been rescheduled.

As originally planned, the work to install phone lines to new properties in Robinson Road would have seen the road closed and traffic diverted via Mill Street and Hurst Green over the weekend of August 5 & 6.

But following intervention from Brightlingsea Town Council and county councilllor Alan Goggin, the work will now take place on Monday, July 31 and finish the day after. The diversion via Mill Street has now been considered unsuitable and a traffic management system on Robinson Road will operate instead.

Some delays may be inevitable, but full access for emergency vehicles will be retained.
