Motivational speakers at International Women’s Day event in Brightlingsea

The Colne Yacht Club will be marking International Women’s Day with a free event featuring a host of motivational speakers.

The day long event – the ninth the club has held – will be held on on Saturday, March 7 , the day before the actual International Women’s Day.

The event is free and there will be a raffle, specifically to buy battery packs and water filters for women in war zones.

Supporting stalls will be run by CYC Women on Water, Brightlingsea Coastal Rowing Club, John Fowlers Solicitors, Little Boat Gifts, WI, Brightlingsea Food Bank and the RNLI.

• Businesses and organisations across Tendring are being invited to pledge their support for a new Women’s Safety Charter, which aims to help ensure women and girls feel safe, supported and respected.

Developed by Tendring District Council and funded by the Essex Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner’s Safer Streets programme, businesses and organisations signing up will receive free training and guidance to help staff recognise and respond to inappropriate behaviour and ensure their venue is a welcoming space for all.
