Four of Tendring’s parks and gardens – including those at Weeley Crematorium – have retained their prestigious Green Flag Awards for 2025.
Clacton Seafront Gardens, Cliff Park in Dovercourt, and Crescent Gardens in Frinton have also been awarded the internationally recognised Green Flag – a symbol of excellence in green space management and community involvement.
Mick Barry, Tendring District Council’s cabinet member for leisure and public realm, praised the achievement as a reflection of the community’s shared commitment to its green spaces.
“Retaining these Green Flag Awards once again is a real credit to the dedication and passion of our Open Spaces team and the incredible volunteers who work tirelessly to keep our parks and gardens looking their best,” said Cllr Barry.
The Green Flag Award, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, is the benchmark for well-managed parks and green spaces across the UK and beyond. Sites are judged on a wide range of criteria including horticultural standards, cleanliness, accessibility, sustainability, and community engagement.
