Three of the people instrumental in the success of the Brightlingsea Free Music Festival – which takes place this weekend (August 2&3) – have been given a very special honour.
Mick Barry, John Stannard and Chris West have been inducted in to the newly-formed BFMF Hall of Fame, set up to recognise individuals whose hard work and dedication has made the festival one of Brightlingsea’s biggest and most anticipated annual events.
The trio were given certificates by town mayor Chris Paveley at a special ceremony in Brightlingsea Museum on Saturday, July 26 – which also marked the opening of a 25th anniversary exhibition featuring pictures, programmes and memorabilia from previous festivals.
Also at the opening of the exhibition, which runs until August 10, were members of shanty group The Motley Crew, who will be performing at the festival on Saturday.
