Date announced for Terry Scowen’s funeral

The funeral of one of Brightlingsea’s best-known and much-loved residents, Terry Scowen, will be held in St. James’ Church on Monday 20th February at 1pm.

Terry was the caretaker at St James’ and was appreciated by many in the town for his help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, running errands and litter picking.

St. James’ is to keep a space open between Wednesday 15th and Monday 20th February for anyone who wishes to light a candle and leave cards, photos, memories, prayers and good wishes for Terry’s family to receive at his funeral. The Church is usually open between 9:00am and 2:00pm.

His hearse will drive past some of Terry’s workplaces on the way to the service for those wishing to pay their respects who are unable to attend the service. The service will be followed by a wake at the YMCA.
