Young musicians from Essex are being invited to audition for two of the county’s top youth orchestras.

Young people playing at around Grade 7 level or above on a string, woodwind, brass or percussion instrument can audition for the Essex Youth Orchestra (EYO) on Sunday, September 6. The orchestra gives members the chance to perform exciting and challenging music as part of a full symphony orchestra, receive coaching from professional players and play in prestigious venues across the UK and abroad.

For younger musicians, or those who are building their orchestral experience, the Essex Young People’s Orchestra (EYPO) is also welcoming new members. EYPO provides a clear pathway into the Essex Youth Orchestra.

On Sunday, September 13 young jazz musicians can audition for the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra (EYJO). Participants will spend the day rehearsing with current EYJO members and, at the end of the workshop, may be offered a place in either the EYJO or Young Essex Jazz depending on their age, experience and ability.

The audition workshops are free to attend, but places must be booked in advance.
