This year’s Fresh Air Festival, which takes place on Saturday, September 21 from 11-4pm, promises to be the most exciting yet and features a wide range of outdoor shows and arts activities for all ages.
Highlights of this year’s festival, which takes place on the green beside Brightlingsea Lido in Promenade Way from 11anm to 4pm, include:
- The Upswing Circus, presenting a series of short performances and offering the chance for 7 – 16 year olds to learn circus skills;
- The Falconry Dismay – expert handler Kevin Tickle will show three ‘birds of prey’ in an anarchic show;
- Desert Island Discs – a tropical island, a gramophone, flotsam, jetsam, one hapless castaway and 20 years pass in 30 minutes;
- The Glass Grinder – hear the mesmerising sound of 52 drink glasses singing.
There’ll also be walkabout acts including giant acrobatic neon bugs, a rude musical nun, the futuristic Emoto-Matic, and the Black Cactus Choir.
Festival Director and Brightlingsea resident, Cassie Catchpole said: “I’m really happy to see FAF grow year on year and new people discover the joys of outdoor arts. Brightlingsea is such a brilliant place for the festival. There’s a fantastic lineup this year that people of all ages will love. I can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
The festival is made possible by grants from Arts Council England, Fowler Smith & Jones and Producer Gathering. For more information, visit www.freshairfestival.co.uk or follow the festival on Facebook and Instagram.
