Part of a Brightlingsea bank in the town’s High Street can be converted into flats, Tendring District Council (TDC) planners have said.
Planners have given the plans for two one-bedroomed flats at the rear of the old Barclays bank building prior approval, which confirms that a development is acceptable before work starts. The proposal, submitted by Billericay-based AM Realty Ltd, would see the front ‘shop’ area of the building retained for retail use.
One objection was received from the owner of a neighbouring property concerned about there not being enough parking provision and being overlooked from the windows of the flats. Brightlingsea Town Council had no objection, but commented that it would object to any reduction of commercial premises in the High Street.
