Prepare to break out your Union Flags for Brightlingsea Carnival, which this year has a VE Day theme.

The annual event, on Saturday June 21, features a host of attractions on the Bayard Recreation Ground from 11am, including live music, fun fair rides, food stalls, a licensed bar, dancers, marching bands, stalls, a sports jamboree, snake handling and more.

The procession leaves the Regent Road recreation ground at noon on a route that includes Red Barn Road, Chapel Road, Hurst Green, High Street, Ladysmith Avenue, Seaview Road, Red Barn Road and back. Road closures will be in place while the procession moves around the town.

The route and this year’s carnival court are shown below.
