Town will remember D-Day with act of remembrance

The 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6 is to be marked in Brightlingsea with two events around the town’s war memorial in Victoria Place.

At 8am, the Town Crier will read the official D-Day 80th Anniversary Proclamation, marking the day when allied forces launched their assault on the beaches of Normandy.

At 9:15pm, there will be an act of rembrance with a tribute read by town mayor John Carr.
