Residents’ views sought on Brightlingsea conservation area

Hurst Green Brightlingsea
Hurst Green - part of the town's conservation area

Views are being sought on how Brightlingsea’s conservation area and the buildings within it might be protected and preserved in the future.

Tendring District Council (TDC) is developing a series of conservation area appraisals to review the areas across the district which have the designation to see if they are still working properly.

Conservation areas contain details of why they are special places and planning applications within them have additional criteria against which they must be considered.

Brightlingsea’s main conservation area takes in much of the older part of the town, roughly bounded by the Hard, Hurst Green, Station Road, Queen Street, the High Street and Tower Street. There’s another around All Saints’ church and Brightlngsea Hall.

The consultation will run for six weeks until November 14 and will include a public event in the Parish Hall on October 10 from 3-7pm.

Residents can also have a say by emailing [email protected] or writing to Tendring District Council Planning Policy Team, Planning Department, Town Hall, Station Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex CO15 1SE.

More information can be found on TDC’s website at www.tendringdc.gov.uk/consultation.
