Tom Austin has become the new manager of Brightlingsea Regent Football Club following the departure of Kem Izzet.
Austin joins from FC Clacton and brings the club’s assistant manager, Ryan Salter, with him. Austin took Clacton to its highest finish in the last 15 years in the 2018/19 season, while Salter has played 106 games for the club.
Regent chairman Terry Doherty said: “I am very excited by the appointment of Tom Austin and club legend Ryan Salter. We have been tracking their progress at FC Clacton for some time now and we have been impressed by what they have achieved. Although the lads are stepping up two levels I am sure they will get to grips with it quite quickly.”
Former Colchester United player Izzet took over at Brightlingsea a year ago, and his departure came following the team’s 4-0 defeat at Horsham on Saturday. The team is currently second from bottom in the Pitching In Isthmian League with only one win from seven matches. Over the weekend, three players – Valter Rocha, Emmanuel Machaya and Morisi Gelashvili left the club to join Norwich CBS, AFC Sudbury and Aveley respectively.
