Motorhomes and caravans are to be banned from parking overnight on Promenade Way in Brightlingsea.
Brightlingsea Town Council (BTC) says the move follows “numerous complaints” about long-term parking on the road ” which has resulted in persistent inappropriate use of local facilities and drains to deal with waste and sewage”.
The changes mean that only cars and motorcycles will be able to park in the current unrestricted areas between 9pm and 6am. Parking outside of those hours remains open to all vehicles.
In addition, seasonal restrictions on existing double yellow lines will be removed and will now apply all year road to prevent motorhomes avoiding any penalty.
BTC says the situation will be monitored and kept under continuous review.
• Free parking permits for Tendring householders are to continue for another year. The Householder Parking Permits allow free parking after 11am at most Tendring District Council‑run car parks for much of the year, except in July and August. Car parks at the Naze, Holland Haven and Frinton and Walton swimming pool car parks, and council housing or civic office car parks are excluded.
Existing permit holders do not need to renew, as permits will continue automatically. Permits are electronic, meaning no paper permit is issued. Full details, including how to apply for the first time or update vehicle details, are available at www.tendringdc.gov.uk/content/householder-parking-permit.
