As it announces a fall in offences across Tendring, Essex Police says neighbourhood policing teams (NPT) in Tendring have been “strengthened to tackle the issues that matter most to our communities”.
Figures released show that there were 10% fewer offences reported compared to pre-Covid levels – 1,639 fewer offences than in the 12 months to December 2019.
The service says the larger NPY teams means more police officers on the streets across the district, bolstering the established teams in working to reduce anti-social behaviour and conducting proactive operations that target repeat offenders and those who exploit vulnerable individuals.
The types of crimes they investigate include:
- Robberies and certain sexual offences
- Vehicle crime
- Shoplifting and business burglaries
- Dangerous dog incidents
Tendring District Commander, Chief Inspector Stuart Austin, said: “Visible, proactive policing is absolutely key to reducing crime and providing the public with confidence that we’re across the issues they want to see us tackling. Their work covers a wide range of offending and crime prevention.
“Be it street drinking and associated anti-social behaviour, vehicle theft, or burglary, we’ll be ensuring these bolstered teams are deployed where they are needed.
