Over 5,000 people registered with Brightlingsea’s Colne Medical Centre have now received their first Covid-19 vaccinations.

The milestone means that over 50% of the centre’s patients have been treated, a feat practice manager Katie Pirie said was due to  “a fantastic effort from all staff, volunteers and home visiting teams working additional hours across vaccination sites in our local area”.

The practice is running another first-dose vaccination clinic at its Station Road surgery on Saturday, March 27 for anyone aged over 50 or for those who are deemed clinically extremely vulnerable. Those attending will be given the AstraZeneca (Oxford) vaccine and must have been called or texted to make an appointment .

Invites for second vaccinations are now being sent out to Brightlingsea patients, who have been asked not to call the practice but wait for a call or text.
