Tendring District Council has issued advice on what people should do if them come across a dead or injured seal on the district’s beaches or marshes.
The advice states that the animal should not be moved or touched, but instead people should keep their distance and call 01255 686868 in hours or – 01255 222022 out of hours.
The council says that it will aim to remove the seal as quickly as possible, but points out that it is not an emergency service and is limited by tides, location and access for vehicles. The size of the animal may also hinder removal, as they can be heavy.
