Brightlingsea Foodbank is running a special food drive on Saturday September 14 as part of the Brightlingsea Community Health and Wellbeing Day.
People are being asked to bring a spare can or packet of food to donate at the Brightlingsea Foodbank stall at Brightlingsea Community Centre as part of the event, which features top surgeons talking about their work.
There are also food collection points in shops throughout the town, or food donations can be given directly to Brightlingsea Foodbank at Brightlingsea Parish Hall, Victoria Place, Brightlingsea, CO7 0BP, on Wednesday mornings between 10am and 12 noon.
The event is being organised by Brightlingsea Town Council. A schedule for the day is listed below.
10.30 – Official welcome by Councillor John Carr, Mayor of Brightlingsea.
10.35 – Mr Pankaj Chandak, FRCS who will talk about innovations in transplantation using machine perfusion technology and 3d printing, followed by questions
11.20 – Miss Meera Joshi, FRCS will talk on breast cancer awareness and research, followed by questions
12.00 – Lunch break
13.30 – Miss Claudia Craven FRCS, will talk about neurosurgery and her hydrocephalus research at Cambridge, followed by questions
14.15 – Mr Pankaj Chandak, FRCS who will talk about the history and heritage of surgery richly illustrated followed by questions
15.00 to 16.00 – Informal chat with members of the public on local organisation stands
