Firefighters past and present have been invited to the opening of a new Brightlingsea Museum exibition, which will detail the 120-year history of the fire service in the town.
The exhibition – Brightlingsea Fire Fighters – will feature photographs and artefacts from the voluntary fire service of 1904 to the town’s retained fire and rescue service of today. Many of the items have been given or loaned to the museum by current and past firefighters and will show lots of familiar names and faces.
When the exhibition opens on Saturday, October 5 the museum’s trustees and volunteers hope that the town’s fire engine will be on hand – if not needed elsewhere – along with former and serving firefighters and a representative from the fire service’s headquarters. Coffee, tea and cake will be available.
The exhibition will run until Sunday November 24, open on Saturdays from 11.00am to 5.00pm and on Sundays from 2.00 – 5.00pm. Entry is free and donations are always welcome. Find out more about the museum here.
