The Colne Medical Centre has warned that there’s no guarantee of further Covid-19 vaccinations taking place in the town – and urged residents to attend other centres where they can.

The warning comes as the Station Road surgery reported that, as of Wednesday morning (February 10), 2,407 of its patients have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Astra Zeneca vaccine. Invites for vaccination bookings by text and phone for those aged 65 and over also began on the same day.

However, practice manager Katie Pirie said: “Many of our patients are telling us they are waiting to have the vaccine at the surgery. I cannot stress enough the importance of attending other sites to have the vaccine if you are able. There is no guarantee of another vaccine clinic at Colne Medical Centre – clinics here will depend on vaccine type, supply and the availability of staff to administer and run these sessions.”

Staff from the centre are working at the centrally-run clinics in Clacton, Harwich and Colchester and its admin team is continuing to contact patients over 70 who have no mobile telephone number or who have not responded to our invitation to book. Once again, patients are urged not to call reception as this blocks the line for those requiring medical attention.
