Covid-19 vaccinations begin for over 70s in Brightlingsea

People aged between 70 and 80 in Brightlingsea are now being invited to book appointments for Covid-19 vaccinations by the Colne Medical Centre.

The 1,679 patients in the age group that are registered with the practice are being contacted by phone and text message to book appointments for their jabs, which will be administered at either the Station Road surgery or the St Helena Centre in Jackson Road, Clacton. The practice is also hoping to start sending out vaccination invites “as soon as possible” to people classified as clinically extremely vulnerable.

On Friday, January 29, the practice will be vaccinating around 350 over 80-year-olds, including those who are housebound, using the AstraZeneca vaccine. A similar number have already received one or both vaccinations at the centres in Clacton and Colchester.

Patients are urged not to contact the practice to attempt to book appointments as they cannot be made by the administrative staff – everyone will be contacted in due course.
