Brightlingsea Carnival Association has a chosen a new carnival queen and court for 2024.

The town’s carnival association has chosen 16-year-old  Lexie Newbury as queen.

Lexie will be attended by senior princesses Marleigh Cuthbert and Emily Sutton-Bryson, both aged 10, and junior princesses six-year-old Miley-Fox Meredith and eight-year-old Lillia Weaver.
The girls all attend school in Brightlingsea and will be seen in their regalia at Brightlingsea Carnival on June 22.

The event takes place on the Bayard Recreation Ground and will feature a sports jamboree day run by local sports clubs alongside stalls, live music, a fun fair and other attractions.
The carnival procession will leave the Regent Road ground at noon on a route taking in Red Barn Rd, Hurst Green, High St, Ladysmith Ave, Seaview Rd, Red Barn Rd and back.
