A plan to build a two-bedroomed house on land at 6 Ladysmith Avenue, Brightlingsea, has been turned down by Tendring District Council – the second time a proposal for the plot has been refused.
The plan by the current occupants of No. 6 – who want to downsize – proposed a house with guest/carer accommodation on the first floor. After a previous plan was refused on appeal, but despint the new proposal being amended to be more in keeping with nearby properties, planners said that it “would be wholly out of character with the well-established linear pattern of residential development in the locality”.
Planners also said that the layout was “cramped and contrived” and added that the building would have been too close to existing properties, resulting in it being “significantly harmful” to the enjoyment of neighbouring back gardens.
