Brightlingsea resident Nick Skinner’s work as a trustee and chairman of Brightlingsea Museum has been recognised by Share Museums East, an organisation supporting museum development across the East of England.
In a virtual ceremony on 4th June to celebrate the work of volunteers, Nick was presented with the individual award in the Trustee category. Nick’s was appointed museum treasurer in 2012 and became chair of the museum’s governing body in 2019.
Museum curator Margaret Stone said Nick has played a major role in the museum’s ambitious projects to install exhibitions and facilities in its new Station Road premises, which lockdown prevented from opening to the public in May.
She added: “Nick has not only managed budgets, so the museum can showcase the town’s fascinating history in a way that perhaps would never have been thought possible just a few years ago, but has also ensured that the museum has a sustainable future. With his ability to see the wider picture he has supported and encouraged others in the team. A well deserved award.”
