The scorching summer has helped Brightlingsea Lido to a record-breaking season with over 25,000 visitors making use of the community-run pool.
The pool closes for the year at the end of the session this Sunday (September 4), slightly earlier than advertised after some “unexpected technical difficulties”.
The Lido says it has been a challenging year for trustees, staff and volunteers, who have kept the pool open and staffed in unprecedented weather. The pool has also had to deal with worldwide shortages of the chemicals required to keep the water clean, as well as rapidly rising fuel costs.
