If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the history of Brightlingsea, a new initiative from the town’s museum can help.
The museum is launching a series of walks around the town centre and the waterside led by guides primed with fascinating facts and entertaining stories.
The Town Stroll takes in the High Street and the town’s Medieval centre, developed under the influence of oyster merchants and boatbuilders, and which became a thriving centre during the heyday of big yacht racing
The Waterside Wander will explain how the town played its part in wartime, and tell of its ancient oyster trade, fishing industry and ship and boatbuilding heritage.
Both walks last around 90 minutes, starting and finishing from Brightlingsea Museum in Station Road. Town Strolls take place on July 7 & 17, with Waterside Wanders on July 3 & 21. All start at 2.30pm, with walkers asked to meet at the museum 15 mnutes earlier.
Tickets cost £5 and are available from the museum or via this link.
