Ten pieces of art created by local residents around the history of Brightlingsea Lido will soon be on display.
The Ebb and Flow project was conceived and created by the Lido’s artists in residence, Chrissie Richards and Becky Jackson, with the ten pieces based on chapters from a book recounting the history of the 90-year-old pool, written by writer in residence Ruth Loten.
Chrissie and Becky held 10 workshops with various groups from the Brightlingsea community creating paintings and images that were made into a collage that was subsequently printed on to a metal panel ready for mounting on the Lido wall.
“The artworks are a visual record of the history of the Lido and its place within Brightlingsea, I hope that residents and visitors will enjoy them for many years to come,” said Chrissie.
The project was carried out with the support of the Brightlingsea Lido Board of Trustees and local residents, with funding from Brightligsea Winterfest and the Essex County Council’s Arts and Cultural Fund. The unveiling takes place at 1pm on Saturday, August 31 outside the Lido on Promenade Way.
