Beach safety teams have warned seaside visitors to remember that alcohol and the sea don’t mix after a drunk man jumped off Clacton Pier on the afternoon of April 10.
Tendring District Council’s beach patrol found the man uninjured, but “intoxicated and aggressive”. After a first aid assessment he was arrested by police for being drunk and disorderly.
“People must respect the water and consider their own safety,” said a council spokeman. “We want to be giving advice, not having to rescue people.”
