A playground roundabout which was placed off limits after incidents where children’s shoelaces were caught up on bolts has now been made safe.

Brightlingsea Town Council (BTC)cordoned off the roundabout on Pawson’s Playground on Promenade Way after several reports of shoelaces being ripped from shoes after being pulled between the moving part of the equipment and its base. One parent said her daughter came close to having a dislocated knee after her child’s laces were trapped

“Designers and manufacturers have inspected the equipment on the roundabout and offered some solutions which have now been implemented by BTC and all modifications are now complete,” said the council in a statement.

It added: “Brightlingsea Town Council is therefore pleased to announce that the roundabout is fully operational and safe from further incidents of this nature happening again.”
