Householders who haven’t yet confirmed their electoral register details may soon be receiving a visit from elections staff.
Letters were sent out in the summer to homes in Tendring asking them to check or update the details held by the district’s Electoral Registration Office as part of the annual canvass.
The check ensures the correct information is held for those who wish to vote at upcoming elections.
Those living in around 8,000 homes across Tendring have yet to respond – meaning that they won’t be able to vote in any future elections – so electoral registration staff are now visiting homes to chase up replies.
The easiest way to confirm the details or make changes is online or by text using the details provided in the letter, but the form can also be completed by phone or by post.
With text or online options residents will receive an immediate confirmation of their response. To reply by post residents will need to provide an envelope and stamp.
