Brightlingsea harbour was the setting for an oil spill exercise on Thursday, January 16.

The exercise assumed a spill in the area bounded by Brightlingsea Sailing Club, Fieldgate Dock and the marina development.

The sailing club was used as the control centre for the exercise, one of several locations around the harbour that can be used in the event of a real-life emergency.

Among organisations taking part were Brightlingsea Harbour, Tendring District Council’s emergency planning team, marine police, Natural England, the Environment Agency, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority .
