Residents are being urged to have their say over spending plans and other priorities in the district over the next year.
Tendring District Council’s (TDC) cabinet has developed a series of proposals for 2025/26 as part of its Our Vision corporate plan, which runs until 2028. Now councillors want to hear residents’ views before coming to a final decision.
Among the proposals are:
- Re-tendering and preparation for a new waste and recycling collection and street cleaning contract
- Delivering a savings plan for 2025/6 and developing one for 2026/7
- A review of the Tendring Local Plan – extending its timeframe to 2041 and ensuring it is in alignment with national planning policy and mandatory housebuilding targets
- Developing plans for multi-million-pound Government-funded projects, including the new Community Regeneration Partnership in Clacton
- Making a final decision in relation to the future of the council’s Careline Service
- Reviewing the council’s use of temporary accommodation and developing a revised housing strategy to address local needs
- Developing strategies for coastal protection, community engagement, crime and disorder, beach huts, sport and activity
Mark Stephenson, TDC leader, said: “We value your input and want you to help shape our district’s future – and ensure our plans meet the community’s needs and aspirations.
“These priorities will help us to deliver Our Vision and, given the financial constraints faced by all councils, will help us to prioritise effectively to deliver services while remaining financially sustainable.”
He added: “During the consultation period we also hope to get a clearer picture about the possible impacts of devolution and local government reorganisation, following publication of the government’s White Paper last month, and this will also feed into the process of setting our final priorities for the coming financial year.”
