Record-breaking Brightlingsea walker Lindsey Bell – who completed a 7,000 mile walk around the coast of Britain just before Christmas – is one of 14 winners of a Pride of Tendring Award.
The awards celebrate those who “make a significant impact on the lives of others in the community” – and winners are nominated by Tendring District councillors.
Lindsey is claiming a world record for her 10-month trek, which saw her traverse the coast clockwise without using ferries. She finished the feat in Greenwich Park, London, where she was met by family and supporters and interviewed by Sky TV.
Brightlingsea councillor Mick Barry nominated Lindsey, who raised £10,000 for charity during her circumnavigation. Along with other winners, she’s been invited to a awards ceremony in Clacton’s Princes Theatre at the end of February.
