Deadlines for voter registration and postal vote applications for next month’s local elections are fast approaching.

Elections for Brightlingsea’s town and district councillors take place on Thursday, May 4. The last day to register for a vote is Monday, April 17, with Tuesday, April 18 the last day for postal vote applications.

The upcoming elections are the first in which photo ID will be required for those wanting to cast a vote in person. Those without acceptable ID – such as a passport, driving licence or certain bus passes – can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate and the final day for this is Tuesday, April 25.

Voter registration can be done at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or www.tendringdc.gov.uk/elections.

Postal vote applications can be made at www.tendringdc.gov.uk/elections or by calling the TDC Electoral Services team on 01255 686575.

Voter Authority Certificate information can be found here: www.tendringdc.gov.uk/council/elections-and-voting/voter-id.
