Rich Yates, Essex Wildlife Trust CEO will be here in Brightlingsea to open the new community built Nature Wall at Brightlingsea Library. Local group, Cobnuts Co-operative have been working on the ‘Finding Lost Nature Words’ project for over a year. Collecting memories and stories from childhood experiences of Nature. The recording will be available to listen to at the opening or a QR code to take away to listen at home. The stories came from different generations, some who grew up in the town, one in the 1930’s and some people who grew up in other countries with lions and crocodiles! The thoughts and recordings then inspired the community pottery workshops at 4YOUth and in Brightlingsea Library. But there is a twist! All the pottery is also built to provide shelter for solitary bees and other insects. Brightlingsea Nature Network have also helped to build the Nature Wall and are hoping to see mason bees, leaf cutter bees, resin bees and even the hairy footed flower bees using the holes in the wall as a safe spot to make nests for their young.
