Brightlingsea will remember those who’ve fallen in the service of their country with two acts of remembrance.
On Remembrance Sunday, November 10, there’ll be a service at the war memorial in Victoria Place at 3pm, preceded by a parade leaving from the Royal British Legion in Sydney Street at 2.45pm. Road closures will be in place.
On the following day, on November 11, a wreath laying ceremony will take place at the war memorial at 11am, the hour at which the First World War came to an end in 1918. Amongst the wreaths laid will be one commissioned by Brightlingsea Town Council from local crochet artist ‘Banksea’ – pictured below – which it plans to keep for use in future years. A donation has been made to the British Legion in lieu of the usual wreath that the council would have purchased.
Banksea has also created a special remembrance post-box topper for the box outside Tesco and Spirals in Victoria Place.
