Brightlingsea’s Art Hut – probably the smallest art gallery in Essex – is set to show off the creations of local artists when it opens for its 2025 season.
On the outside, the hut is little changed from the days when it was the base for the town’s Hard Master. But on the inside, the octagonal hut at the top of the Hard is now equipped to exhibit a wide range of artwork, thanks to fittings designed and installed by local tradesman Bob Hollis.
Inside, you’ll find photography, ceramics, jewellery, cards, art, textiles, glasswork, driftwood art, illustration, literary works and more, created by eight local artists. A percentage of sales goes to the Brightlingsea Food Bank.
The Art Hut team are keen to broaden the range of exhibitions and activities that take place in the Art Hut this year and would like to hear from Brightlingsea based makers, musicians, writers or creatives of any kind who could make use of the hut.
