Essex Police carry out fishery checks

Staff Reporter

Officers from the Essex Police Marine Unit have been working with other agencies to tackle breaches of fishing legislation.

Recently, they supported the Kent & Essex Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority and the Marine Management Organisation with an operation focused on the types of fishing gear and nets being used.

Sergeant Alex Southgate reported: “We spoke to lots of boats and all were found to be operating within the law. It’s a good chance for them to find out more about the Essex Police Marine Unit and our work and they know we are there to help keep them safe.”
